What is Coaching?
Coaching is all about helping you achieve what is most important to you through the process of discovery, collaboration, awareness, commitment, and accountability. Every high achiever in history has had a coach who helped them discover new ways of succeeding. Significantly, their coach was also there to help them whenever they lost their way and needed help getting back on track.
Coaching is also a permissive “do with” process, not a “do to” process. That means coaching is not about telling you what to do. It’s about helping you discover your unique way of defining and achieving what you want.
Powerful questions help you identify your own resources and strategies so that you can get out of your own way and take action on the solutions you know will work. This is a highly effective process supported by the idea that you already have the answers you need inside of you, you just haven’t found them… yet.
That’s why coaching is so important - you are more resourceful than you think you are, you just need a little help getting past where you are now.
These five elements are why a coaching relationship is vital to creating the business and/or life you want
Growth: Whether you are choosing to or not, you are always growing because growth is inevitable. The question is: Are you growing toward what you actually want and who you truly want to be?
Intention: By choosing to grow on purpose and in a particular direction, you can achieve anything. Setting clear intentions for your growth is what separates exceptional achievers from the average population. Intentional growth is necessary for achieving any significant goal.
Clarity: Having intention is vital, but vague intentions will create unpredictable results. Clarity around intention will set you up for success because you absolutely must know what you’re aiming at and how you intend to achieve it. Otherwise you can travel great distances in the wrong direction before recognizing the time and energy that has been wasted.
Conversation: Clarity is best developed through conversation because you already know what you know, and you don’t know what you don’t know. What that means is that conversations help to create new perspectives that lead to new ways to achieve what you want. For massive clarity, multiple perspectives need to be considered. That clarity will better support your intention and will lead to powerful and purposeful growth.
Consistency: While any single conversation can be life-changing, consistent conversations are what make coaching so powerful. By engaging in consistent weekly conversations, you continue to create clarity about your intentions over time. And because growth is an ongoing process, you will always be growing on purpose toward exactly what you want.

A guiding principle of the way I coach comes from my grandfather, "the coach", - keep it positive. Many coaches, including many whom I hired for myself in the past, use pain and negative reinforcement to essentially bully people into getting results. I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THAT APPROACH. Negative motivation can be a helpful kick in the butt, but it’s a poor way to create lasting momentum or generate change. That’s why my coaching philosophy is purposefully positive. When you hire me, it’s because there is something important that you want and it is my job to support you, lift you up, get you what you want, and help you achieve a strong and well-balanced state of mind. Anytime we discover a pain point, we will be certain to discuss and resolve it so that you are always moving in a positive direction toward what matters the most to you. As your coach, I believe that continual growth is what will lead to lasting success. When I do my job right, you will be able to go out on your own and thrive. When you succeed, I will celebrate your wins with you. And if you ever need a boost, I will be there to lift you up again.
